Using a Large Meander as the Spine for Endless Creativity • Free-motion quilting (FMQ) opens up a world of creative possibilities. It allows quilters to break free from the constraints of straight lines and uniform patterns, giving life to quilts through intricate designs and textures. However, with this freedom comes the challenge of managing large quilt tops, avoiding puckering and ensuring the overall design remains cohesive.

A Little Patch of Country

Stars Aligned • Flying Geese and Grandmother’s Fan blocks come together – the geese fly through the middle of nine large circles of dark blue fans, creating bright stars where they meet. The stars appear to glow because three shades of orange are in the background of the Flying Geese strips, going from light to dark. A lively cotton print dances in the background. This quilt is made partly from silk ties, silk and dupion silk – you can use whatever silks or fabrics you wish.
