100 Fordtastic years • AMC salutes Ford Australia as the Blue Oval celebrates the milestone of its 100th year of operation down under.
From road to track • We could fill an entire issue of AMC with Ford’s Australian on-track racing highlights. Instead, here’s a sample handful of some of the more memorable moments in competition for the Blue Oval.
100 candles • Ford didn’t let the occasion of the 100th year of its Australian operations slip, throwing itself a big party in Melbourne to celebrate. Here’s a snapshot of the event, attended by executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company, and great-grandson of Henry Ford himself, Bill Ford.
Hardtops’ happy anniversary • Just a few weeks before Ford celebrated its 100th year in Australia with a lavish event in Melbourne, just across Bass Strait there was another Ford celebration with the 2025 running of the biannual Hardtop Anniversary.
A9X UC? • What if Holden had continued with 5.0-litre V8 power into the final, UC, Torana model? Who knows, but one thing’s for sure: the UC wouldn’t have become the forgotten Torana model that it is today – and the A9X version might have looked a little bit like this.

Dicey Doug • Doug Chivas’ contribution to Australian motorsport goes way beyond the dramatic scenes of October 1, 1972. Like many drivers of the muscle car era, the late, great Chivo’s success was not limited to touring cars.
Leyland brother • As a mechanic at BMC/Leyland, Noel Delforce was part of the development team on the Leyland P76. He also raced a series of BMC/Leyland Sports Sedans, with generous backdoor support from his employer – he’d even been planning to race a P76 two-door Force 7 when Leyland shut its doors in 1974.
